Ethel's funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, 2009. The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM, with Mass following at 10:00 AM. It is my understanding that interment will be at the Boulder City Veteran's Cemetery, and that she will be placed adjacent to her husband Richard. Time for the interment is not yet known. A reception in the Catholic Center following the Mass has been requested, but not yet scheduled.
If you are available, please plan to attend and join your prayers together for this gracious lady and honored friend.

Brothers, I'm pleased to report that my father was released from the hospital today, and is returning to work tomorrow. He has indicated he feels well. It seems that all of our prayers were answered. He was given a stress test this morning, and no abnormalities or heart damage was observed. His chest pains were attributed to elevated blood pressure.

Our family greatly appreciates all of your kind thoughts and prayers.

A couple of sad notes:

We have been advised that Ethel Waudby, widow of Brother Richard Waudby, has passed away. We're not sure of the circumstances, but were told that she died suddenly two days ago (Sunday). We understand that she was not at home when it happened. We understand her sister is on her way to Las Vegas, so arrangements are pending. Ethel was a very dear friend, but we know how lonely she was after Dick died.

Also, we have heard from SK Arthur Forbes family that he has been moved to hospice care in anticipation that he will not be returning home. He is not taking food, and is only being kept comfortable.

Prayers are requested for SK Kevin J. Hazy, Sr., PGK, FDD of Council 9102 and Assembly 0611. He was admitted to Centennial Hills Hospital for chest pains and shortness of breath.

The hospital tested for the enzyme released after a heart attack, which came back negative, and he indicated that he does not feel the same pains as he did yesterday.

Saturday 3 am Nick Vuolo Brother Knight and Purser of Fr. O'Callahan Assembly went to Southern Hills Hospital.

Nick was experiencing chest pains. Monday morning he will be transferred to Sunrise Hospital.
Doctors hope to be able to install stint.

While visiting his critically ill uncle in Texas, Sir Knight Bob Fain of the Fr. O'Callahan Assembly; received a phone call from North Carolina informing him that his 18 year old niece was killed in an automobile accident Monday.

Brother Knights, Please keep our brother Jerry Artellan and his wife in your prayers. Jerry woke up Thursday mourning very week, short of breath, and couldn't get out of bed. They called the paramedics and he was taken to the Gardnerville medical clinic. They couldn't diagnose the problem and transferred him to Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City. They think he has been bleeding internally for several days, but they don't know why. He will probably need some blood transfusions. Thank You

Brother Ray Kaspari was called home yesterday, Sunday May 24th, 2009

Brother Ray was a Father, Husband and Brother Knight of Holy Family Council #7708 in Las Vegas. He was a active member of his Council at Holy Family Catholic Church; he served as Council Treasurer, and he and his family won "Family of the Month" on several occasions over the years. Ray also was a Lecturer and EM at for his parish.

Brother Ray lost his battle with Cancer, and now as gone home to the Lord.

I just found out Monday that Dottie Caputo, widow of SK Anthony Caputo of the Rev. Van Skee Assembly is in Saint Rose Dominican Hospital with a swollen arm, due to her other medical problems this serious... I spoke with her daughter who said that she may be discharged Thursday night or Friday AM.

A group of us take turns driving her to Henderson three times a week for Dialysis, she also a Diabetic.

I'll pass along to you any other info as soon as I get it. Your prayers are urgently requested.

For those of you who live in Northern Nevada, you have probably aware of the shooting that took place on Sunday in Washoe Vally on Highway 395 N. A young man, who has been arrested, shot and killed another young man who was a passenger in his car and then pushed the victim out of the car.

Brother Wayne Nash, of Council 4781 in Carson City was traveling north on hwy 395. He saw the person who had been shot and killed and stopped to render assistance. The gunman than shot Wayne in the leg and he is in RENOWN REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER in serious condition. We need to send him our prayers and thoughts.

Here's an update on my niece.

Last week I asked for prayers for my nephew's wife Donna. I wish to thank everyone who said an Our Father, Hail Mary, or more on her behalf. I appreciate those who have asked about her over the past few days. There is good news and such very sad news. A way was found to air lift her from Houston, TX to Hartford, CT. This was done by a critical care air ambulance with my nephew by her side. She arrived home on Friday May 1. Her 10 year old daughter got to see her mom before she died on Saturday May 2. I thank you for your prayers and thoughts over the past week.

My Brother Knights,

I am asking for your prayers for a family member of mine. Donna is the 40 year old wife of my nephew Vincent. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer with cancer cells in her spinal fluid as well. This diagnosis was given about 2 months ago. Since then she was released from Yale New Haven Medical Center in Connecticut and went to a clinic in Houston, TX for special treatment. She was, however, quickly admitted to Memorial Hermann Medical Center’s oncology department. Things have not gone well over the past couple weeks. I ask for your prayers for Donna’s recovery so she can return to her 10 year old daughter. I also ask for prayers that when the time comes to go back home God will provide them the way and that the travel will be successful.

Anne Furst Rinaldi, 86, of Las Vegas, passed away April 13, 2009. She was born Oct. 7, 1922, in Memphis, Tenn., and was a Las Vegas resident from the early 1950's. Anne was a member of Catholic Daughters, Italian American Club and Red Hat Society. She also performed volunteer work for 50 years for the Knights of Columbus women's auxiliary, as well as for many other organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband, George William Furst Sr. Anne is survived by her children, Connie A. Friedman, Sheri Furst, Carol Schivo and George William Furst Jr.; grandchildren, Saul and Shirah Friedman, Dov Friedman, Ioana Apostol, Hadassah and Roni Kotel, Sarah Friedman, Christopher William Gonzalez and Colby Alexander Gonzalez, Kady Schivo and Taylor Bessette; and great-grandchildren, Avnor Friedman, Brianna Furst and Alannah Gonzalez. Br. Knights,

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Br. Ernie Carlucci of Fallon Council 4828. Br. Ernie passed away from natural causes on Monday, 6 April. He would have been 91 years old on the 14th of this month.

Br. Ernie joined Council 4828 on December 17, 1983 and attained his 3rd Degree a few weeks later on January 24, 1984. He had once served as Warden of our Council and he was transitioned to Honorary Life membership status on December 17, 2008. Br. She is trying to send me a text, concerning John's health, but in the mean time, she said his white blood count is tremendously high, so they called in an infectious disease Doctor, who is a very good one, and he is sending him down this evening for a whole body scan to try to locate a source of infection. They have also called in a lung specialist to check out his lungs, for probably pneumonia.

Other than that, and most importantly, Pray for his full recovery... and let's not forget to Pray for Mary Rios, as she is going through one of the toughest things in life, to deal with.

This is to request prayers for the repose of the soul of Brother Gregory Woodhouse, age 54, who passed on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. According to his family - Greg died due to liver failure. Will advise of funeral arrangements at a later date.

Greg was responsible in recent years for looking after his father Richard M. Woodhouse, age 87. Due to Greg's death his father has been taken to St. Rose Hospital for evaluation. Brother Greg was a first degree member and recently attended the Lenten Meal at St. Joseph, H.O.M. On 03/06/2009. Greg was looking forward to taking his 2nd & 3rd degree on 03/29/2009.

I have known Greg since the mid 80's, and he had expressed interest in the Knights since I joined in 2004. Greg took his First Degree on 09/22/2008 at St. Peter the Apostle Church.

The Wren family and George's wishes were that no services be held. George's cremains will be sent to his home State of Pennsylvania.

Prayer Requested for the repose of the soul of Br. Guy Regan

Br. Knights,

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Br. Guy Regan of Fallon Council 4828. Br. Guy was killed this afternoon (Monday) in a tragic two-car accident, while on his way home from work at the Fallon Electronic Warfare Range. The report we received was that the accident may have been caused by a drunk driver.

Br. Guy joined Council 4828 a little more than a year ago on January 16, 2008 and attended his 2nd and 3rd Degree only two-and-half weeks later February 9. He immediately became very active in our Council and has been serving as our Warden during the current Columbian Year. Br. Guy was also a member of Assembly 2739 in Fallon, having recently completed his 4th Degree on February 14, 2009. He was 57 years old.

Br. Guy will be missed by our Council, by our parish, and by his co-workers at Northrop-Grumman.

This is an update on Irene Pacifico, wife of Brother Joe Pacifico. Brother Joe reports that Irene has been taken off the ventilator and is progressing well. The doctors found Ecoli and they have it under control and will probably remain in the hospital for two more days. The doctor call her his "Miracle Baby," Irene is feeling much better and is anxious to go home. The Pacifico family expressed their Thank You for all your prayers and ask us to continue praying until Irene gets well. Joe and Irene are very happy of the turn of events for the better due to all the prayers.

Irene is in the hospital with an unknown bacteria and undergoing tests and exploratory surgery to find out what she has. Father Clarence has given her the rites of anointment of the sick. Brother Knights: We have a brother Knight, Dave Moffitt,who is very much in need of prayers. Last year he went in for a routine colonoscopy. He is on blood thinners, they took him off the thinner so they could do the procedure. He died approximately 20 times. Each time they revived him, he died again. I guess God, with all our prayers decided he was worth more to us than to him at the time. Now he is in need of our prayers again. He is now going in for an angioplasty and they can't take him off the blood thinners or he will die. He lost his brother to the same procedure, and he is scared to death and rightly so. He is also our Financial Secretary and we need and want him for a while longer. So please keep him in your prayers.

Ray, a new Knight in Reno Council 13842, was involved in a tragic car accident last Friday. Ray is a Special Education Teacher at Traynor Middle School. On his way home Friday two children, one a student at Traynor, darted in front of his car. He struck a 12 year old girl and her 9 year old brother. The nine year old had a broken leg but the 12 year old girl was more seriously injured. Last night they took her off of life support and she passed away with her family by her side.

Ray was not found to be at fault but I am sure this hurts him deeply.

Brother Juan received a call from his family in Mexico that his mother, Maria Arenas was welcomed home to the Lord early Monday morning, January 5th, in Mexico. Br Juan says his mom was having health problems, but was making improvements.

He is recovering at Desert Springs Hospital and may be moved to a rehabilitation location to mend from his heart valve and bypass surgery. I am requesting Prayers for my Aunt Nina Mikaitis who was taken to Valley Hospital on Sunday evening after suffering an apparent Stroke. She has suffered two seizures and is now in the Intensive Care Unit and was placed on Life Support equipment in critical condition.

My Aunt (88) is the Sister of my surviving Mother (90) who lost my Father (94) on September 3rd. So I am also requesting Prayers for my Mother and our whole family. This has been a particularly bad year as we also lost my Father's Brother last December 27th.

Here's an update from Brother Knight Robert Drislane of Council 13456 in Henderson, for his son Michael.

Michael is out of ICU, and has been transported to an acute hospital on the campus of Vanderbilt University. He remains comatose, and the doctors feel he has significant brain trauma and damage; however the doctors seem upbeat about his prognosis, because of his youth and physical condition before the accident.

Robert would like to thank all brother knights and their families for their continued prayers for Michael's improvement and recovery.

Prayers Requested for Sir Knight Brother Anthony Fernandes and Christman Family

Brothers;

Please keep in your prayers the Fernandes and Christman Families on the loss of their father and father-in-law, Sir Knight Brother Anthony Fernandes (Tony). Brother Tony died in a tragic house December 19th in Hidden Valley. Brother Tony was 97 years old and living at his daughter's home, Veda Christman. It was the Christman home that had extensive damages and the family isn't able to spend Christmas at home.

Brother Tony is an Honorary Life Member with Council 2730 (August 1, 1951) in Oakland and 4th Degree Assembly #70 (March 1, 1961). Funeral is schedule for Tuesday, Dec 30 in San Leandro, CA , with a Rosary planned for Monday night. His Council and Assembly in California are handling the KofC presents at the service. SK/Brother Tony didn't transfer to a local Council in Nevada. No Reno/ Sparks service is planned, even thought he lived many years in the Reno/Sparks area and attend Immaculate Conception Parish.

PGK Council 8282 Frank Lenzo is in Desert Springs Hospital recovering from bypass and heart valve surgery. Surgery was a week ago this past Friday and he is still in intensive care recovering. He is not out of the woods yet and is taking baby steps to recovery. With the grace of God Brother Frank should move to a regular room and bed by Monday.

Sir Knight John Lubich passed away on December 15, 2008 after suffering from a long illness. He joined the Knights in 1960, and was a member of Nevada Council 978 and Bishop Manogue Assembly.

It is amazing in the blessed time of the year that I have another favor to ask my Brother Knights, please take a moment an offer up a Hail Mary for the soul of Casie Barkman who was killed when a drunk driver crashed into her boyfriend's car; she was in the passenger seat. The accident occurred outside of Rio Vista, CA last Tuesday evening. The Barkmans are good friends of mine from Rio Vista. The boyfriend also needs you prayers, he is still in critical condition in the hospital, his last name is Saline. So please keep both of these families in your prayers this Christmas Season.

Please pray for healing and peace for Woody and his wife Pat. He has been diagnosed with esophical cancer and will begin treatments soon. Woody is Membership Chair for St. John Vianney Council 13842 at St. Rose of Lima in Reno and his membership blitz has brought in 37 new members so far this year. Woody has blessed us with his enthusiasm and support and now we need to pray him back to 100% health.

Michael, 37 years of age and son of Brother Knight Bob Drislane and his wife Helen, continues to be in a coma with severe brain fluid resulting from the automobile accident in Memphis, Tennessee. Michael suffered a heart attack while driving and collided with a tree. He is in Vanderbilt Medical Center. The medical prognosis is that a normal recovery from the auto accident is remote. He’s had 3 surgeries & he is still battling being the warrior that he is.
